Tom Berryhill announced he would not be seeking re-election in 2010, focussing instead on a run for the 14th Senate Seat being vacated by Sen. Dave Cogdill. Several candidates have announced their intentions to run for the seat. A favorite being former Turlock City Councilman and current aide to Rep. George Radanovich, Kurt Vander Weide[4] [5]. In January 2010, conservative Modesto City Councilwoman Kristin Olsen announced [6] she would seek the office. In June 2010, Olsen won the primary election and in November 2010 she was elected to succeed Berryhill [7]
